Charlie Gates
Charlie is an emerging artist working out of Canberra, graduating with honours from UNSW in printmaking and photography, and since I have exhibited in group and solo shows around Australia.
Charlie was a printer in residence at Cicada Press, helping artists such as Euan Macleod, Chris O’Doherty and Noel Mckenna.
He has been working as a technical officer at Megalo Print Studio, and recently moved into the acting Screen Studio Manager position.
Charlie’s work centres around exploration of language and the influence context has on understanding, in particular processes of decontextualisation and abstraction.
He often uses screenprinting and has recently been exploring lithography to express these ideas.
Bronte Bell is a printmaker and textile artist based on Ngunnawal Ngambri Country. Her practice is rooted in material exploration, focusing on found and discarded textiles as a means of storytelling.
Through collection, deconstruction, and reconstruction processes, she engages with themes of transformation, waste, and the intersection of the natural and manufactured worlds.
Her practice is guided by a slow and considered approach, embracing the imperfections of worn materials and allowing their histories to dictate new forms.
Bronte Graduated from ANU School of Art and Design’s Printmaking department in 2020.
